Bigg Boss 16’s recent episodes have taken the route of major revelations and fights. From Sumbul Touqeer’s father divulging about Shalin Bhanot and Tina Datta’s intentions to Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia giving a reality check to Shalin Bhanot about his behaviour towards the housemates. She even points out his ego issues.
The upcoming promo shows Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia and Shiv Thakare at loggerheads. Shiv Thakare asks Nimrit to accept her mistake but she goes to the room crying. Sajid tells the housemates that Nimrit holds an apology to everyone in the house but she clarifies that she has anxiety issues.
Shiv mocks her anxiety issues by calling it overacting, he says, “Overacting se kuch nahi hota hai”. Listening to these remarks, Nimrit yells back that she isn’t overacting, she is suffering from anxiety.
In an exclusive conversation, Nimrit had opened up on her mental health and its effect due to constant work. She was doing Choti Sarrdaarni at that time. She shared, “I stepped out of my home when I was only 18 years old. I have always been an extrovert and fiercely independent girl, living on my own terms. With name, fame and an established TV career, life seemed perfect. I never thought that I could break down so easily. The entire experience was very daunting for me.”
She revealed that she noticed the initial signs of it in October 2020. She says, “Our work takes up so much of our time that we don’t have time for ourselves. While shooting continuously for daily soaps for 27- 28 days in long shifts, we don’t realise what we are losing in the process. This creates an imbalance in our personal and professional life.”
In her recent interview with ETimes TV right before entering the house, when Nimrit was asked what made her take on Bigg Boss 16 which is of controversial nature, she said, “For me the one thing that I truly believe in is that when you throw yourself in situations which are uncomfortable, you realise your true strength. I feel that Bigg Boss is an opportunity which gives you a platform to reach out to a larger audience. So whether it’s my battle with mental health or anxiety and the fact that I’ve always been pretty vocal about it, I feel that when opportunities come for you to reach out to larger people, you should take it up and make that kind of impact that you want to. This is something that I always wanted to do. This is also something that compelled me and also I want people to know who the real Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia is. I am grateful for all the love I have received for Choti Sardarni and for having a place in the audiences’ hearts but I want this love to increase by giving them an access to know who I am as a person.”
